It is from advertising posters that Joachim Romain designs portraits through which he questions the life cycle of the poster. Thus, his work at the Origin is a series of photographs which treatment (tearing, cutting, adding, burning) transform them into unique works that sometimes take the form of sculptures !
The portrait, emblematic subject of the photographic exercise, and its attraction to the clichés of the street, incorporate and it emerges portraits of man, artistic icons, political and advertising. Time and the street life have got the better of their plastic, all that remains of them are men torn away.
He also uses the blue back of the poster, a reverse look at the advertisement. He composes with installations only of cutting of this paper (hut of architect, objects of the everyday life, ..).
His latest work in situ allows him to put the subjects from the street in their “natural environment”.
Thus, he snatches off the street of the portraits of posters to better return them to murals. But after his intervention in the studio, the portraits are enlarged, magnified, diverted and return to the street again fierce and imposing.
